Autumn/Winter essentials

Winter has well and truly arrived. The last few days have been absolutely freezing, I’ve been drinking more tea than ever before and the thermals have been pulled out as well.

I’m well into my Autumn/Winter capsule wardrobe, and as per the plan, I’m not feeling the need to buy anything as I don’t feel there are currently any gaps in my wardrobe.

Today I thought I’d just do a quick run through of some of my essentials for Autumn and Winter. Apart from the image above looking very pretty (with the help of some autumnal leaves from the garden), it consists of some key pieces I think are essential for this time of year.

Almond Milk & Honey Shower wash – The Body Shop
I love the Body Shop all year round, but when the weather turns is when my skin really suffers. I find using a gentle moisturising wash such as this one really helps keep my sensitive skin hydrated, soft and smooth.

Green tea
Of any description. My current favourite is Clipper as they are organic and delicious, plus they don’t bleach their teabags. I drink green tea all year round, but I’ve certainly upped my intake recently, if for nothing else other than the comforting warmth of a hot cuppa.

A year round favourite. This particular one is from Seasalt and is 100% organic cotton. It fits and washes well, and is perfect for layering under a cropped jumper or my coatigan. I love the red as an alternative to the classic navy breton, and as most of my wardrobe is pretty neutral, this adds a nice pop of colour to some basic outfits.

Nothing new and exciting here, just an absolute hero. I’m finding this extremely useful for any dry spots I get pop up from time to time. It’s pretty heavy so I usually apply at night for extreme moisturising and healing.

Jo Malone – Pomegranate Noir cologne
You guys all know I love Jo Malone fragrances, and this one is no exception. I’m useless at describing scents, so here’s the description from the website if you’re interested:
“The sensuality of a daring red dress. Ruby-rich juices of pomegranate, raspberry and plum are spiked with pink pepper and laced with Casablanca lily and spicy woods. Dark and enigmatic.” Basically it smells incredible, and I always get complimented when I wear it.

Shea Lip Butter – The Body Shop
Small and portable, it’s perfect for carrying around with me at all times. If like me, you suffer from cracked lips in the cold and wind, this certainly helps to ease the soreness and start to repair the lips.

Wool blend pom-pom hat – H&M
I’ve had this hat for a few years now, and it comes back out every Winter. While it’s not pure wool, it does contain some, which makes it super toasty and warm. I love the neutral colour as it goes with everything. And who wants to be cold anyway?

Not pictured, but worth a mention – thermals, particularly tops and socks. I only started wearing these last year and oh my, I can’t believe I didn’t sooner. I have a few long sleeves, varying in thickness, all perfect for wearing underneath a cosy jumper for extra warmth. Seriously worth investing in some good quality tops if you really feel the cold.

What are you Autumn/Winter essentials? Anything you think I need to add to my list?
